July 20, 2019 saw a marvelous change in the way we live in our society. A Indian gay couple had a proper Hindu marriage with all the ceremonies in the United States of America. Amit Shah and Aditya Madiraju had already registered their marriage at New York City Hall a few months earlier. However, the couple wanted to celebrate their love with their family members, which is why they held all the proper ceremonies according to traditional Hindu customs a few days ago. The couple had met in 2016 and there was an immediate connection. Madiraju also said that both their families had been supportive of their love right from the beginning of the relationship and it was for them that they had this Gay Indian marriage.
One of the most significant things about this marriage is that even though many orthodox families in the Hindu community would be against a gay marriage, Amit and Aditya had their marriage in a Hindu temple, under the supervision of a priest and they observed all the proper religious customs.
“I guess it is unheard of, and we didn’t realise the impact it would have. The response had been so overwhelming and we are honoured to share our story with the world. It seems like people need to hear our story to feel empowered and we are excited to provide people with some inspiration.” Reading the responses that he got from all the people on the internet, Aditya responded with a post on Instagram, which read, “We didn’t realise the impact a simple wedding at a temple would have on people around the world looking for hope. There is no secret to acceptance, tolerance, or happiness. You just have to find the right partner to take the step with. Let the truth of your love speak for itself.”
“I hope our story serves as an example of acceptance and change,” Madiraju said, adding “It’s a very important part that families support their kids and help other struggling parents understand and accept.”
